Old Love Song

As you can see, this is my second Christmas Eve post.

So, making the yule tide colder, here is another fact. Love songs really never end. I know you remember the song "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg. Say, "King and Queen of Hearts" by David Pomeranz. Or "Always" by Atlantic Starr (you could say the other song by Bon Jovi). Making it more Christmas-y, "Last Christmas" by Wham. As long as it touches the hearts of people, it could always exist.

Just like feelings. As long as the memory is still there, it would haunt you. So it would be best to move on. But even though, when you turn back time (like turning the radio on), you still cry for it. Right? XD

Well, in relation to this, here's a song from Anne Mendoza, entitled Old Love Song. Enjoy! :)

Sana Nga Naman

Hey! This is gonna be my Christmas Eve post, since I have nothing to do. hehe.

Composing a melancholy in pure Tagalog is hard, but I think someone I knew did. Anne Mendoza just did. And I found it cool, trying to accompany some catchy beat.

Well, without any further ado, Anne Mendoza for her song, Sana Nga Naman. Enjoy! :))

Whem I'm Gone

My classes just ended hours ago, so I think it's best to blog this time. Now that it is my Christmas break, I'd blog my way out as a start.

So, here is, again, Psalm Galope. But now he's making a twist. He's making a song for my past situation (iiyak na ako Psalm? XD). Yes, it hurts when someone you love ignores you. When everything feels not right, when you thought you could but still it hurts, it's hard. But, know that you could leave and make your presence not be shown. That person will surely miss you when you go away, but that if she loves you too. That was the greatest test.

So here is the video, When I'm Gone by Psalm Galope. :))

TOP 5 songs that made me teary-eyed

Yup, you have read it right. I can't believe that one day I will be posting this. But since I have no choice because they were that too damn good, I have to post this. So this is the day.

Anyways, my basis was when I hear these song, I start to be too melancholic, like I really wanna cry for the song (not for the person, else it would be so stupid). So here is the song followed by my favorite line:

5. Over It (Rufio) - I just heard it a couple of times and I'm so hooked up with this song. Like I want to scream and sing this so I would feel better. This is anyways a break-up song, and the guy is so moving on. "I was over it before/but you brought me back to where I began".

4. Far Away (Nickelback) - It's not the video that I love, but the thought of the video. It shows that love means patiently waiting, no matter how long or how hard it is to wait. Also, love is forgiving even though how hard it is. "I need to hear you say/that I love you/I loved you all along".

3. Whatever It Takes (Lifehouse) - This is another blockbuster hit. Yes, this situation really sucks when you have to stop your loved ones from going away from you life. Yet the most romantic part of a relationship. So all you have to do is give it all and accept the fact that you need him/her. "But remember the time I told you the way that I felt/that I'd be lost without you/I'll never find myself".

2. When We Say (AJ Rafael) - This is the only youtube music I included in this list. It is because I love youtube songs! anyways, as AJ Rafael says, we could not live in a dreamy world, and we can't have all that we ever dreamed of. We must not live the fantasy because this is reality. And sometimes, things are not meant for us. "But this ain't a movie/I know you can't come with me/you've got your life/he'd better be treating you right."

1. The Fight Is Over (Urbandub) - I was kinda sad only upon hearing the plucking of the guitar in this song. And yes, this I think is the best situational song from Urbandub. The song suggests a cool-off before talking things. This song was the first to trigger my emotions and I then really almost cried. "Explain to me/what has become of us/with words released/we can never take them back/for all that we're worth now/not even pleading could save us".

LIFE IN UPMIN (PART 2)

3RD YEAR 1ST SEM
I'd like to say this is the most exciting part of my life in college. First time to get out of the dormitory, living in a boarding house in the town. Net galore! Time for my blogging! First time also to have good grades in my majors. I also found relief that for the first time, I saw Katingugan now up and running with all those events we had. First time also to find a girl to call mine, even for a time. It wasn't the best, but I won't ever regret it. And lastly, I also saw myself grow to God because of the Praise and Worship team. XD

POTZ

I don't know how we are
And I don't know what I mean to you
I don't know how it felt so cold this thing we're doing
Maybe you'll feel me walking away

But here's the thing
I won't never ever go
I just need to give you the time you need
the time you asked from me

And this I tell you
I will never ever break
Though I'm dead confused
I LOVE YOU

I'll be there for you
For the rise and fall
In spite of it all
Though it hurts and bleeds inside

Beautiful Days

This is another break, and it's like we are having a hard time apart. Fights, fussing, misunderstanding. But this I tell you, I'd still love her with this problems we overcame and those we are yet to overcome. The reason? It could be explained by this song. :)

So this is another Anne Mendoza's composition. But this time, she needed help from her two trusted bloc-mates, Trisha Anne Samantha Aligato and Betsy Tulio. Trisha (or Treeng, as she would like to be called) is also part of the group Koro Kantahanay, making her qualified to write and sing songs. Betsy is a writer on University of the Philippines Mindanao's official newsletter, Himati (no doubt she's part of the lyricists).

This song is actually recorded by Anne only as the three of them don't have time to record together. But still I consider this a worthy post. No one could make this music while studying. But the lyrics struck me. hehe. XD

Without further ado, here's the song! Hope you'll enjoy this. XD

JBieb: 51 years old??

I just had my second day of the semestral break this school year. My first day is spent with my BSABE batchmates. So this second day I'll spend it by posting my thoughts.

While I was studying and searching the net for reliable sources of information(kuno), I found this video post from a friend. It says that Justin Bieber is not a 15 year old pop icon, rather a 51 year old pedophile. Well, here it is.

But wait, don't exactly believe this sh*t. It was just a big parody from the Onion News Network. They are the international version of Wazzup Wazzup. Check the names on the net to know about them more. A big lie indeed. And a funny one. And don't get me wrong! I just have a shock on the news, and I don't exactly believe it. And I'm not a Bieber fan! I'm just annoyed by the parody. It was too good, I almost laughed all by myself! XD

... (Ligawan Moments Galore!)

Everytime I see you
My heart skips a beat
My legs try to pull me
Closer to you

Everytime I close my eyes
My thoughts of you come
Along with a smile
From thinking of you

Everytime we are together
I start to shiver
Your presence make me smile
Together with you

Everytime I think of you
I think of us together
Now I realize it's what I want to be
Always with you

and now this time
The timing is right
Let me be the one who holds you
Let me be officially yours...

Famine

This blog post is a getaway from the stress in school, as we will have the infamous "Hell Week" dilemma next week. Also, because I'm BORED. hehe.

On to the post itself, another Psalm Galope's song. I find this song funny as he was OOH-ing at the interlude part. No offense of course Psalm! But all in all it is good as the pessimistic point-of-view still shows for Psalm. OK, the video. Enjoy everyone! XD

All Over Again

Who would have thought that she would play some of the guitar solos at this song and would create a melancholic rhythm as Psalm Galope did? I never expected it as I heard it in while she used piano. More melancholic it is in piano, but I can't stand the way it was played with the guitar, specially with the lead part that made me smile. =)

Anyways, without further ado, Anne Mendoza Ladies and Gents! Such a performer. Enjoy!

Because I Believe

Great week for me! I could at least blog 2 weeks consecutive. DULA '10 will be tomorrow (09/01/10) up to saturday (09/03/10). And it is the start of the -BER months! My gift please.... hahahahaha.

Enough of that segue, let's get to the main thing.

Okay, this is again from Psalm Galope's masterpiece songs. He revealed off his real story, a melancholic poetic. I could say he smiles big despite his EMO-ness. So here's the song "Because I Believe" by Psalm Galope. Enjoy!
(P.S. There is no available lyrics for this song, my apologies. XD)

My Name Means Love

Ok, as promised, here is another budding composer from the University of the Philippines Mindanao. Psalm John Galope is the "prodigal son" of the Koro Katingugan, once took a break and now back to the business (I suppose). I could see his potential as we are in one section, Tenor (he sings the T1 part, the higher tenor, and mine is the T2 or lower tenor part).

As for the video, he says it is dedicated for "someone". Haha. A very expressive guy. Well, just watch the video and enjoy! KUDOS PSALM!

U-turn

This should be another song of Shirley Anne Mendoza I am trying to upload for all to hear. She records most of her songs kasi, and she is approachable in this terms. haha. I also have two more budding composers coming up on my next blog, maybe (crossing fingers). But just wait, I'll be asking for their copywrite permissions sooner. XD

But for the meantime, here's Anne with her newest song, The Boy, este! U-Turn! haha. We listened at this song when she said she had a new song and then we recorded some parts. And now at last, she posted this on facebook. We like the song because of its sweet lyrics and catchy beat. Just listen to it. Go for it Anne! =)

Angel In Disguise

We were practicing for our KATINGUGAN pieces when we got bored and instead we went for a jamming. She then played this music, and we were singing along. I heard it from her account last summer, but I didn't get the chance to ask for her permission to post this thing.

Well, here is Shirley Anne Mendoza, appearing once again in my Blog post. KUDOS ANNE! More power!

Here's the video with the lyrics:

100 pop songs with same chords = perfect medley!

Well, here I am, trying to brag something from youtube.

He's TJ, a bored man in LA. He was trying to make a medley out of the simple chord progressions on guitar.

I have tried to use the same method he used when I jam with my friends. But totally, I SUCK!

anyways, here is his youtube post.... just click and voila!

Music Industry and The Secret(?) Society

I've read one article by Lureenz, a co-blogger, and seen this video. I was shocked (kind-of) by the things I've read and seen.

Illuminati by the way is the plural of Illuminatus, meaning "enlightened". They are founded May 1, 1776 by Mr. Adam Weishaupt. Sources say they have survived even now, controlling World Government, and now the music industry to control the world with their so-called New World Order. Watch this videos to learn about more.

Tool's "Fibonacci Sequence" Song

I really hate math badly. Proof? I failed my calculus when all had passed it. But this video really inspired me to pursue math, and life. I dropped my mouth after watching the video, so I downloaded it and would like to share it.

The song is entitled Lateralus by Tool. I downloaded it in youtube and it is good. Special thanks to EMI music and to the one who uploaded this video. I find it cool because I could not believe that math could be this inspiring. This band is really a bunch of musical genius kids! As one commented, this song really is over-thought. But still it is good, and the video is good for a school project.

Well, this ends my post. Till then!

Album Review: Owl City's Ocean Eyes

I never thought something good can come from electronics music! I mean, this Adam Young has proved himself worthy for the pop beat in almost all genre, thanks to his insomnia. Ocean Eyes (just got the album last week) is an all-in-one album. You want to know why?

1. Cave in - this song's beat was more about summer breakaways. But then, the lyrics would mean moving onwards, not looking back. The metaphors used was so funny peculiar and the beat, so refreshing.

2. The Bird and The Worm - This song, with its catchy beat, is such a happy love song. Imagine you're in the beach with your significant someone, that's the feel of this song. Say, "you're the bird/and I'm the worm/and it's plain to see that we're meant to be." So cheesy for an electronica guy!

3. Hello Seattle - This song is full of metaphors that explains who he was and who he wanted to be. This could mean that he wants to tell Seattle, or perhaps the whole world, who he really is, why he wanted to pursue music.

4. Umbrella Beach - This one's for par-tey!Add some cello and some synth, and we're good to go! It shows how a musical monster this man is.

5. The Saltwater Room - Put an acoustic touch on the start, you'll know it's a love song. Yes it is a summer love song, just a little opposite to The bird and the Worm. It is like doubting about love.

6. Dental Care - Was he funnily talking about the dentists? No. About parallels in life? Yes most probably. So funny descriptions, they are not actually the complete parallels but the thought counts. You, would you rather pick flowers than a fight? Hmmmm....

7. Meteor Shower - Yeah. This marks the start of the emotional part of the album perhaps. Strong words to describe the feeling? So Owl City. Adam is so expressive in his songs, that is why I'm starting to like his songs.

8. On The Wing - He misses the girl right here. He is so in love, I could tell. They are on a mall, talking about themselves, and maybe walking down the arcades, through the parades and all that makes a girl happy. Yup, he is so in love.

9. Fireflies - Oh my, do I really need to explain this? Yes, this is a good song. Polytonic tone like a phone ringing is so nostalgic, like you want to go back to childhood days. But then, as the song suggests, we must live what is now, and not the fantasy.

10. The Tip of the Iceberg - A song about winter loving. Another Club Party song. This song's so hypnotic, and it describes much what happens during winter. I find it cool (no pun intended).

11. Vanilla Twilight - Piano does it all at the start, making the ambiance so lovely. Again, he is so in love! But he's right, we just think of the one(s) we love, then we feel not so alone. But this song is so EMO! This is just what makes this album amazing, complete servings of all music.

12. Tidal Wave - Fast beats would really hide what he wants to portray. This one shows how weak a man can be. I love the lyrics when it says "I forget the time I felt brave/I just recall insecurity/'cause it came like a tidal wave and sorrow swept over me."

13. If My Heart Was A House - "If my heart was a house you'd be home". how cheesy this song have been! I really want to sleep upon hearing this song! I just love to hear this!

Well, that was about the 13-track album. Download the album here for free (just like what I did. haha). Till then! Good luck for OWL CITY! \m/

awit para kay juan dela cruz

I was trying to find something to blog about in the internet, until I saw myself tagged in this video my Choir-mate-slash-friend made. She, Shirley Anne Mendoza, is a freshman in The University of The Philippines Mindanao under the BA Communication Arts program. She is a member of a budding singing group in UPMin named KATINGUGAN.

She composed the song and compiled the pictures in the video. I think she is getting the hang of being in UP! =)

Here at last is the copy of the video!

anyways, the lyrics of the song so you could sing along..
Inyo bang nakikita
Inyo bang napapansin

Bilang mamamayan anong magagawa mo?
Tayong lahat ay susi sa pagbangon ng bayan
Huwag hayaang magdusa kapwa mamamayan

pakikibaka

ewan ko noon kung tama ba
mas mabuti pang manahimik nalang
pero dito sa peyups ko unang nalaman
ang tinig ng estudyante ay kelangan

paano tayo uunlad
kung walang maghahayag ng mali?
paano tayo matututong ipaglaban
ang karapatang sa ati'y hinawi?

nakikita ko ang bansang naghihirap
at ang iba'y wala nang ginawa
nabulag na ba tayo sa katotohanang
hindi tayo naging maunlad?

marami din ang todo welga
di na inisip sarili nila
pero may punto din sila
bayan kanilang inuuna

sino pa ang kikilos
kung di natin sisimulan?
sino pa ang tutulong sa atin
dito sa malaking problema ng bayan?

KILOS KABATAAN
HABANG MAY PANAHON KA PA!
TAYO ANG PAG-ASA NG BAYAN
PARA SA KAUNLARAN AT KINABUKASAN!

LIFE IN UPMIN (PART 1)

August 2007
I took the UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) just to find a college for me. No harm in trying, as they said. I saw a bright light of enthusiasm. Effortless as I am, I want to pass, or else I would have a harder try to other schools. We went on road with my cousin as early as four o'clock am, to UP Mindanao. We took the 1st "Abortion Road" Experience. We arrived five thirty am, already in fullest speed ever. Take this, we had a cold experience in the CHSS-AVR! Good thing I had put the jacket in the car. There were snack time, but who has time to? At long last, the half-day agony ends.

Febuary 2008
My father brought me the paper he downloaded from the internet. It says that I passed, and was selected the course of BA English major in Creative Writing. I then opposed and chose BS Agribusiness economics. We tried all means to transfer me into the course.

April 2008
We went to UP Mindanao to check the dormitory. But who are these people? I see people of my age entering the dorm! Out of curiosity we asked. A Summer Bridge Program is going on! Too bad for me, it is too late.

June 2008
Enrollment time! I was excited to write the course: BSABE (BS Agribusiness Economics). But when I came to the Office of the University Registrar, I was registered as BAE (BA English). Oh my! My mother then asked the Registrar what happened. I was low in math (I knew it!). But we compromised on the pact I made, to make my study a priority. So my parents and the registrar agreed to add me in BSABE. Whew!

1ST YEAR 1ST SEM
Ok. Before going back to the university, got my phone jammed! It always show the startup, but the desktop won't show. Back to the basic phone. first night at the dormitory, I was alone. Thanks for this dude named Kevin Labrador who shared the same situation with me. We talked and went out of the dorm till we won another friend who called out another and we had a herd of them! Thanks God for these wonderful people! 1st block encounter, only five out of sixteen I recognized. But we got close enough to know each other through our bondings. We experienced diversity of teachers - an expert one, a boring one, a terror one, a sleepy one, a "tweety" one, and a funny one. We were cool, and we see the bright side of life. All of us passed the course. On extracurriculars, I joined Koro Kantahanay and PSALM (Philippine Student Alliance Lay Movement, Inc.).

1ST YEAR 2ND SEM
A new time to kill myself! I'm inflicted with so many conflicts. First, desperately trying to move on. Second, I fell in love again with the wrong woman. Third, I became so tardy. I would come to the Calculus and Analytic Geometry (MATH26) class unprepared. I was lucky that every time I attempt not to go, there would be no classes. Due to the fact that I love the arts (for I am a musician and an enthusiast in photography), I prioritized Arts and Humanities 5 (AH5). Biology 1 (BIO1) was taken for granted, until I forgot to pass the returned Scientific Papers. I was given 5 in laboratory for that reason. But thanks to the Lecture teacher who saved me from failing the subject, and given me incomplete (inc) grade to comply to the laboratory and pass. But I failed in MATH26. I have two options - to take the summer class in UP Diliman or wait for another semester in my delay. I have to take the second. I have to relax, I said to myself.

June 2009
Prior to enrollment, I need to check my grade in BIO1. Good gracious, I passed! And I need two days to wait for it to be signed by the proper persons. But it was worth it. I passed! and I need to enroll MATH26 this semester.

2ND YEAR 1ST SEM
Another year! I can't believe I am on my second year in the university! Glad I have survived (or did I? Almost I haven't). More girls around, but can't help. I need to study! Been on my good statistics ever, coping up with the mistake last semester. I enrolled in MATH26 with the hope of passing. in the end, I passed. I also passed all of the subjects. Looks like another cool semester for me! On the other side, I was pressured to be called "KUYA", as I thought my roommates (both freshmen) were looking up on me.

2ND YEAR 2ND SEM
Good things do happen for a reason. I was elected as president in our choral, KATINGUGAN. And on the verge of accepting it, I was appointed as the treasurer of the religious group, PSALM. and before the semester ends, I joined PSALM's official Praise and Worship team. And thus With the pressure, I flunked MST5, and almost had not pass ANSC10. I was frustrated then. But still I survived! My teacher in ANSC10 compromised me. So that's the benefit of being a christian. =)

And She Doesn't Know

I look as she passed by
Her eyes complement her body
It's a big crush, I bet
And she doesn't know

Stealing glances on the road
And I wish I had my camera
To capture her smile so stunning
And she doesn't know

I don't care for his boyfriend
It's just admiration, anyway
He's lucky to have her
And he doesn't know

Her lips, so tempting to me
A fun voice making heads turn
Awesome body drops my jaw
And she doesn't know

Looking around for a face
I saw her looking at me
I winked and glanced all around
And she doesn't know

I lay under the stars
Looking at my hands that longed to touch her
I smiled for it is her I thought
And she doesn't know

Album Review: August Rush Soundtrack

"The music is all around is. all we've got to do is listen." this is the very last line in the Movie 'August Rush' that touched my heart. Listening to the music played (literally) in the movie, it makes me feel that I just can't have these guitar talents! Well, while I was watching a dance practice of my course-mates in the UP-Mindanao School of Management building in Anda street, Davao city, my upperclassman played a familiar August Rush song. we then hurried to peek for the title and the singer. Upon knowing, my roommate downloaded the soundtrack. I was amazed by the music I heard as they brought me back to the movies. here are my comments for my favorite songs:

1. Main title (Mark Mancina) - this one takes you to the days when Evan Taylor was just an orphan and was bullied because of his claim that he hears his parents. This also marks the start of Evan's story.

2. Bach/Break (Steve Erdody and Jonathan Rhys Meyers) - A clash of Classic and Modern Rock music. It started with a noticeable string quartet instrumental and then a 'rockestra"-type of music (rockestra = rock + orchestra). It is cool to hear.

3. Moondance (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) - a song about what a guy wishes for, a woman. So smooth harmonica tells the romanticism of the music.

4. This Time (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) - I could put this under the "EMO" songs that I listen to. "...will the wind be at my back?/can I get you off my mind?..." was it? haha. It's about a question of how and when can his father move on from the girl he met (which is, in this case, Evan's mother).

5. Bari Improv (Kaki King) - a super-tapping guitar solo that needs much practice to master. It would maybe appear to you like this is an ordinary group performance, but heel yeah, this is freaking solo!

6. Ritual Dance (Kaki King) - another solo! what a guitar skill this kid has (if ever this would be true). it is about the voice of the nature, how one has heard it.

7. Dueling Guitars (Heitor Pereira and Doug Smith) - as the title says, it is really dueling guitars. The one plays just strumming, while the other goes super guitar tricks and licks. it's super fun.

8. August;s Rhapsody (Mark Mancina) - the amazing rhapsody of guitar licks, cello madness and super sound effects. it felt so perfect for me, combining every instrument you knew.

9. La Bamba (Leon Thomas III) - it is because of Pacquiao that sang this song that I really hated this song. but this version, the acoustic version is a better cut. so relaxing, taking the blues away!

I would not bother to mind the other songs, for I honestly don't like them much. And making comments of them would just make me so tired right now. hahahaha. So long people! Keep listening!

A Meaningless Melancholy

Hey guys. This is my first post, and my first time to write a free-form far-fetched poem. Please bear with me...

Fucked up in this mess
Can't get out of the rut
Heavy thoughts cycloned round my head
Thoughts one would never wish to have thought

"I'm fine" was such irony
Was an understatement overused
Melancholy was such a music to me
Getting me in reality that I'm alone

The void inside remains
Heart trying still to veil
Feet tired of running in circles
Eyes blinded by forever

How many rains must cover tears?
How many smiles to fake?
How many inks to waste?
How many leaks to seal?
